About Dr. Evelyn P. Gilmore

Consultant Work & Organisational Psychologist

Because of Evelyn’s background, she understands the difficulties that can arise when working in business and organisational settings. She knows the challenging dynamics that can sometimes be present in groups. She also knows that organisational culture can impact on groups and individuals and that efforts to bring about any kind of change can sometimes fail. In addition, because of her psychological background, process expertise and extensive experience of working with individuals, groups and organisations, she knows how to work with you to help bring about the desired change.

Education 

In relation to her psychological background that informs her work, Evelyn has an honours degree in psychology from the National University of Ireland, Galway, (NUIG) and a first class honours masters in work & organisational psychology from Dublin City University (DCU).  She has also trained and qualified as a psychotherapist, and as a supervisor. In addition, Evelyn has completed a three-year Tavistock Consulting to Organisations (TQC) programme and has completed a professional Doctorate in Consultation and the Organisation with the Tavistock in London. This professional doctorate is accredited by the University of Essex.  

 

For her Master’s degree, Evelyn conducted research on leadership development and emotional intelligence. For her Tavistock Doctorate research, Evelyn inquired into “the creation of holding environments at work” using a systems psychodynamic lens and an action research methodology. Inquiring into the creation of holding environments involves working with the emotional aspects of organisational life. 

Work Life 

Evelyn is a Director of two different organisations. She is founder and director of Psychodynamics at Work. She is also a joint director of Coach Institute of Ireland, which runs a one year business and executive coach training programme www.coachinstitute.ie

  

Her professional work identity includes being a consultant work & organisational psychologist, an accredited psychotherapist, a business and executive coach, a coach trainer, and a practice supervisor of executive coaches and organisational consultants.  She is also a writer. Her past and current clients include individuals, groups and organisations from the public, private and not-for-profit sector.  In a former position, Evelyn worked as a training & organisational development manager for a large private sector organisation. She has lectured to masters students on organisational development and change in the department of management in University of Galway, and was a Visiting Lecturer to doctorate students on the Consultation and the Organisation programme in the Tavistock.

 

Evelyn is a member of a number of different professional bodies. She is a chartered psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland (P.S.I.), a full member of their work & organisational psychology division, a full member of their division of psychotherapy, and a member of their coaching psychology group. She is also an accredited psychotherapist with the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (I.C.P.). In addition, Evelyn is a member of OPUS, Organisation for Promoting Understanding of Society.

Profile 

Her areas of interest and expertise include organisational development and change, leadership development, working with groups and group dynamics, working with the emotional aspects of organisational life and role consultation.  In addition, Evelyn has in-depth expertise and experience as an individual and group supervisor of organisational consultants, work psychologists, change agents, group facilitators and business and executive coaches.

She is a professional, high-energy individual with an approachable style and manner. She has a skilled approach to listening, questioning, and summarising individual and team outputs. She has excellent group facilitation skills, expertise in action learning, excellent senior management coaching skills and role consultation expertise, and extensive experience in practice supervision of coaches and organisational consultants.
